“I got tired of feeling tired. Nothing I had tried helped me lose weight or keep weight off. No gym I’ve tried in the past would actually work around/with my physical concerns to get me to a better place. I never had the energy after work to go play outside with the kids and I didn’t like how I looked in pictures. My first time meeting Shanna, I mentioned my physical limitations and she immediately had answers/tricks to help me. Those first few workouts, it felt like she went out of her way to teach me things, show me how it could be done. It gave me reassurance that I could do it and not hurt myself as I always have done.
I decided to try the half Murph on Memorial Day weekend. I was scared to death. But Shanna talked about the ability to scale and replace sections with similar movements to get the same outcome. I came to the gym that day and did my half and thought I’d be dead, but that month and a half of training we had done beforehand made me more than capable of completing it. It went so well, I decided to do another half two days later. I had heard of the Murph for years and had set it apart as this crazy workout only for the most devoted. To only have had a month and a half of training and still be able to get through it, it showed how much progress we were able to make in that small amount of time. It also energized me for the future- because if we can do that in a month and a half, what can we do in 6 months? A year? It really opened up what was possible for my health and fitness.
I can be more active with my kids. I have more energy to go outside and kick the ball around, shoot hoops, teach them the sports I grew up on and loved. It’s also simpler things like less trips from the car to the house with groceries or yard work becoming easier because I can handle more weight/physical stress.” - Mickey
“I joined Unbroken Athletic 5 years ago after a neighbor told me about CrossFit, and I have loved it ever since! The workouts can be tailored to any fitness level, or however you are feeling on any given day! Some days I really want to push myself, and some days I just want to move at a moderate pace. 3 years into my CrossFit journey, I purchased a personal training package of 12 sessions with Shanna because I wanted to take my skills to the next level. 2 years and about 100 personal training sessions later, I still meet with Shanna each week to continue improving my skills and strength, and I have no plans of stopping!
When I started, one of my goals was to do 1 pull-up. Last Saturday, I did 100 pull-ups in one workout. I also wanted to climb a rope, but when I started I could barely hang on long enough to get off the ground, lol! Now, I can do several rope climbs in one workout. My core is stronger than ever, and I am always happy with the way I look in a dress. How many 42-year old women can say that?!?

“I still wouldn't consider myself "fit" but I am more fit than I was a year ago! I started slow, like reeeally slow (actually still pretty slow The trainers worked around my injuries, limitations and general middle agedness. “ I was a little intimidated by all the different Olympic lifts that I had never really done before and being able to complete the high intensity workouts. We receive such amazing training at Unbroken that little by little I started feeling more comfortable in most lifts and was able to start increasing the weights which felt amazing. “I’ve always been active. From playing tennis, volleyball, and snowboarding, plus extra conditioning classes at the gym and at work. “I have been working on my nutrition with Coach Shanna on and off for the past year. I will not say this has been easy. It is a grind when you lose weight the right way. These nutrition plans aren't a quick fix that will make you drip 20lb in 3 weeks by starvation and water. With Shanna, you eat! ….and you eat a lot of the right things!
